Capitola Weather Net (CWN) is located on Monterey Bay in the Jewel Box neighborhood of Capitola, California. Capitola is approximately 70 miles south of San Francisco and 35 miles north of Monterey. It is surrounded by the Santa Cruz Mountains on one side and the Monterey Bay on the other.

CWN is a privately owned and operated weather station and weather information site. It's purpose is to provide our community with local weather observations along with other publicly available weather information.

CWN utilizes a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus weather station to measure and log weather data. During power outages the data logger will continue to store weather data and the web site will be updated when power is restored. Weather graphics are created by Ambient Virtual Weather Station. Web site weather data is automatically updated every 5 minutes.

CWN also forwards its real-time weather data to a number of other Internet weather sources for redistribution including Weather Underground, Weather For You, the Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP) Station CW4453, MesoWest and the National Weather Service.
