The forecasting of an earthquake is one of the branches of science of seismology that is more concerned with the assessment and analyzing of general hazards of the earthquake, which includes finding the magnitude, a measurement that is used to measure the damages caused by the earthquake in a particular area.

The forecasting body will be using many sources and matrices to determine the aftermaths and consequence of the earthquake. The goal of the forecasting center is to inform the government and the people with prior and relevant data so that the people and the government might take precautionary actions to lessen the damages, or in the worst case scenario, a catastrophe.

The duty of the earthquake forecast center needs to be very active when it comes to earthquake forecasting. The earthquake forecasting center will be using many of the statistical data and variables to predict it more accurately, due to this reason their actions are called statistical methods. They need to overcome all the complex and difficult situations. The approaches used by the earthquake forecast more tend to have a relatively long period of time but it is very useful to come up with accurate forecasting of the tremors.
